Install Guide
Pick the guide for your chain and follow it top to bottom. Every download also includes this guide.
First: match the file to your setup
- .xps → Waves StudioRack chain (any DAW, needs the Waves plugins)
- .adg → Ableton Live chain (stock devices) or the Plugin Alliance chain for Ableton
- .cst → Logic Pro chain (stock plugins) or the Plugin Alliance chain for Logic
- .xml → iZotope Ozone chain — one file per Ozone version; use the one matching yours
An .adg will never load in Logic, a .cst will never load in Ableton — if a file won’t open, check the format first.
Waves StudioRack (.xps) — any DAW
- Unzip — Mac: double-click the .zip. Windows: right-click → Extract All. Inside is your .xps preset.
- Load StudioRack on a track in any DAW (Logic, Ableton, Pro Tools, FL — all work). Don’t have StudioRack? It’s free from waves.com via Waves Central.
- Load the preset — click the preset name bar at the top of StudioRack → Load → Open Preset File… → select the .xps → Open. The chain populates instantly.
- .xps greyed out? Click Full Reset at the top of StudioRack first, then Load → Open Preset File… from there.
Ableton Live (.adg) — drag & drop
- Unzip the download — inside is your .adg effect rack.
- Click the track name first to select it — skip this and Ableton sometimes refuses the drop (that’s the ⃠ “no” sign).
- Drag the .adg from Finder/Explorer onto the device area at the bottom (or onto the track name). The rack loads with its macro controls at the top.
- Keep it forever: browser → User Library → right-click Presets → Show in Finder/Explorer → drop the .adg in. It now lives in every project’s browser.
Logic Pro (.cst) — one folder, then it’s permanent
- Unzip — inside is your .cst channel strip setting.
- Open the install folder: Finder → Go → Go to Folder… (Cmd+Shift+G) and paste:
~/Music/Audio Music Apps/Channel Strip Settings/OutputIf Output doesn’t exist, create it inside Channel Strip Settings (capital O, no spaces). - Drag the .cst in. Installed.
- Load it: open your project → mixer (press X) → Stereo Out strip on the far right → click Setting at the very top → your preset is in the dropdown.
- Not in the menu? Quit Logic fully (Cmd+Q) and reopen — Logic only scans on launch. Two “Channel Strip Settings” folders? Use the one in ~/Music/Audio Music Apps/ — that’s the one modern Logic reads.
iZotope Ozone 9–12 (.xml)
Tap your Ozone version — the folder is different depending on which one you own:
Not sure which you have? Open the Documents → iZotope folder on your computer: a folder named just “Ozone” means you’re on 10, 11 or 12 · a folder named “Ozone 9” means 9. (The version number is also on the Ozone plugin window itself.)
Prefer to let Ozone find the folder for you? Open Ozone → click the preset name at the top → go to your user/custom presets tab → right-click any preset there → Show File in Folder (Mac) / Show in Explorer (Windows). The folder that opens is exactly where your .xml goes. (If that list is empty, use the paths above.)
- Preset doesn’t show up in Ozone? Fully close and reopen your DAW — Ozone scans for new presets on launch.
- “Version mismatch” or won’t load? You installed the .xml from a different Ozone version — grab the one matching yours from the download (the version is in the file name).
- A folder in the path doesn’t exist? Create it with the exact name shown — or open Ozone once and save any preset, and Ozone builds the folders for you.
Plugin Alliance chain — Ableton & Logic
- Install the plugins FIRST. The chain needs: Brainworx bx_cleansweep Pro, elysia museq, Shadow Hills Mastering Compressor, Brainworx bx_digital V3, Black Box Analog Design HG-2, Brainworx bx_clipper, bx_limiter True Peak (all covered by a PA Core or PRO subscription). If any are missing, the rack loads with empty slots.
- Then install like the stock chains: the Ableton build is an .adg — follow the Ableton guide. The Logic build is a .cst — follow the Logic guide. Same chain, same 10 macros, grab the build for your DAW.
If something still won’t work
- Confirm the file format matches the plugin (see the table at the top).
- Update the plugin/DAW to the latest version.
- Restart your DAW after dropping a file into an install folder — most plugins only scan on launch.
